SUCCESSFUL III OPEN INTERNATIONAL INTERNET ECOLOGY OLYMPIAD
197On the eve of the upcoming International Neutrality Day, extensive international events and competitions in the education sector are being organized under the motto of the "Ocean of the Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy." On December 5, 2024, the III Open International Internet Ecology Olympiad was held at S.A.Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University among students of higher educational institutions of the country and abroad.
Participants of the Olympiad's opening ceremony, first, were acquainted with scientific and project works prepared by young scientists and students. Speakers at the ceremony wished great success to all participants and fruitful outcomes for the competition. In congratulatory speeches, it was emphasized that during the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, under the wise leadership of the esteemed President, efforts to protect the environment and enhance ecological well-being have become a global model. The official announcement by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on December 1, 2023, in Dubai at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) about Turkmenistan joining the Global Methane Pledge received worldwide attention. The participants of the International Internet Ecology Olympiad emphasized the importance of the initiatives that National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward in his speech at the “One water” summit. This summit held in the margin of the session COP16 of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification held on December 3 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It was noted that the international reputation of "green" educational institutions in the country, which pay particular attention to ecological policies and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), continues to grow. In 2024, S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University was included in the "World University Rankings 2025" by Times Higher Education and achieved recognition in the "UI GreenMetric World University Rankings" as a sustainable, "green" university.
Inspired by the exemplary leadership of Hero Arkadag, Arkadagly Hero Serdar, the open international Internet ecology Olympiad was held to promote the country’s great ecological policies among the younger generation, identify talented and goal-oriented youth, enhance their ecological knowledge and skills, and foster scientific and creative activities. It also aimed to encourage active participation in international subject competitions and establish friendly collaboration between the country’s and foreign universities' students. This Olympiad played a significant role in the personal development of young people and broadening the worldview of future specialists.
The opening ceremony of the international competition continued with performances by the artistic amateurs of the university’s "Altyn Asyr" Cultural Center.
The III Open International Internet Ecology Olympiad involved 500 students from 25 universities of Turkmenistan and 70 universities from 30 foreign countries such as Azerbaijan, Australia, the USA, Republic of Belorussia, Great Britain, Brazil, Czech Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran, France, Kazakhstan, Germany, South Africa, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, India, Croatia, China, Indonesia, Spain, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Egypt, Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkey and Japan. The tasks covered topics such as population ecology and biosphere studies, human ecology and contemporary ecological issues, industrial ecology, ecological monitoring, and environmental law, as well as international organizations. Participants were given 90 minutes to complete the tasks, and their results were evaluated using software, with final scores summarized.
As highlighted by the esteemed President, the harmonious development of every state and society is inseparably linked to science. Therefore, in our independent state, great attention is paid to the advancement of science, including natural and exact sciences and ecological education. Special focus is also given to the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual, and physical development of our youth, as educated and healthy young people are the country’s powerful strength and bright future. Participants wished sound health and long life to Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, who lead these grand educational and scientific reforms to success for the benefit of the nation and the world.
