OUR STUDENT — THE BEST STUDENT OF CENTRAL ASIA
5Between February 5 and 10, 2026, the international competition "Best Student of Central Asia" was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, organized by the "Bilim Innowasiýa" center and the "Academy of Best Students." More than 350 talented students from Central Asian countries participated, and the award ceremony for the winners was held on March 21.
Medet Materov, a 2nd-year student specializing in Horticulture, Fruit, and Vegetable Growing at the Faculty of Agronomy of the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, won 1st place and earned the title "Best Student of Central Asia." He was awarded a diploma, a certificate, a commemorative trophy, and a breastplate (medal).
To celebrate this achievement, an award ceremony was held at the university on April 13. Speakers noted that in the year of the 35th anniversary of Independence, the university is witnessing great success. Medet Materov’s track record includes:
• 3rd place in the "Digital Solution — 2025" innovation contest in the "Digital Medicine" category.
• 1st place in the "ICT Start-up: Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development" competition (April 2025).
• 1st place in the international scientific project competition "Agro-innovations: The Bright Path of Sustainable Development" (2025).
• Active participation in the student science week "SNN-2025" at the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography.
Medet conducted significant research at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Guided by the encyclopedic book Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan by the Hero Arkadag, he developed a remedy to combat tobacco addiction using medicinal plants. His project, "Ecosystem Medicinal Product Prepared from Mint and Dandelion," received high marks. The resulting spray helps individuals overcome smoking habits and follow a healthy lifestyle.
It was also noted that in 2024, another student from the same university, Dawud Dowletov, won the "Best Student of Turkic Peoples" competition. The ceremony concluded with words of gratitude to the Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for their immense trust in the younger generation as the builders of the country's future.
