A COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES OF THE REGION
4From 18 to 22 November 2025, the Rector of S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, Allaberdy Gapurov, was on an official visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, to participate in a training seminar under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program on higher education in agriculture, climate change mitigation, and strengthening scientific and practical capacity. Within the framework of the visit, a Cooperation Agreement was signed among regional agricultural universities with the participation of the Asian Development Bank, the Wageningen Research Foundation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Wageningen University.
Representatives of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took part in the seminar. During the visit, speeches by representatives of the Asian Development Bank, Wageningen Foundation, and Wageningen University were heard, the directions for implementing the Agreement were discussed, and presentations by project coordinators, implementers, and rectors were organized.
The Rector of S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University introduced the work carried out under the wise leadership of the esteemed President to integrate “green” skills into the national higher education system, emphasizing that the multilateral Cooperation Agreement would be highly effective in developing green competencies in the region, improving the quality of higher education, and realizing existing potential.
At the seminar, strengthening regional cooperation in education on climate-resilient agriculture and improving educational programs were identified as key priorities of the Agreement. Views were also exchanged on establishing a regional “Green Agriculture” center to enhance research and information exchange.
