OUR STUDENT WINS GOLD MEDAL AT AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
3From September 24 to 28, 2025, the World Sustainable Development Goals Challenge (WSDG 2025) was held in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, organized by the country’s Youth Scientists Association in cooperation with the Multimedia University.
The international competition received over 2,100 project submissions from 17 countries — Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania, Brazil, El Salvador, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UAE, Egypt, India, Palestine, Vietnam, and Guatemala.
Yhlas Kurbanov, a 2nd-year student of the Agriculture (Engineering and Teaching) specialty at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, participated in the competition with his project — a website called “Synchy”, designed to establish communication between authors and readers, and was awarded a gold medal.
The project was developed in line with the 4th Sustainable Development Goal — “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” The international jury highly praised the project and wished the author success in its further development.
The website plays an important role in improving the quality of books and encouraging reading habits. Authors can upload their books and works, while readers are rewarded for providing feedback and identifying errors. This strengthens the connection between authors and readers.
The site’s structure was built using HTML, its design in CSS, functionality in JavaScript, and the server-side logic was implemented using Django (Python framework). The author noted that the idea for the project came during university classes, and that his interest in programming languages began during his school years.
In the International Year of Peace and Trust, such achievements by Turkmen students on the world stage are a worthy gift to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
