ROAD SAFETY — THE COMFORT OF OUR LIVES
15On September 15, at the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov, within the framework of the campaign month “Road Safety — The Comfort of Our Lives,” an awareness-raising meeting was held with the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan’s education system, law enforcement and healthcare institutions, and public organizations, aimed at preventing road traffic accidents. The event was organized in accordance with the President’s instructions to conduct the month-long campaign at a high level, with particular emphasis on strict control over measures to regulate traffic in the capital, in the city of Arkadag, and in the provinces, as well as on raising the awareness of passengers and drivers about traffic rules.
As noted in the speeches, within the framework of the campaign month “Road Safety — The Comfort of Our Lives,” the work of state bodies, local executive authorities, other legal entities and individuals is being coordinated in Turkmenistan to prevent road traffic accidents and reduce the severity of their consequences. In this regard, planned activities are being widely carried out in the country’s educational institutions, including higher education establishments. Their main purpose is to emphasize the great responsibility borne by all road users.
The speakers explained in detail the regulatory legal acts on ensuring road safety, including rules, standards, technical regulations, and other normative documents. In particular, they promoted the content of the Law of Turkmenistan “On Road Safety,” adopted on March 31, 2012. The participants of the awareness-raising meeting gained a broader understanding of the importance of fully and correctly following traffic rules, as well as of the need for cultured behavior among all road users.
