13On June 2, 2025, a scientific-practical conference of professors, postgraduate students, specialists, and students was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University. The event was dedicated to the Year of International Peace and Trust, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality, and the World Environment Day, under the title “Environmental Culture is the Foundation of Sustainable Development”.
During the plenary session, presentations were delivered on topics such as ecological well-being as a guarantee of happiness, environmental culture, the methodological features of teaching ecological education in higher education institutions, international cooperation to ensure environmental security in Turkmenistan, and the foundations of the country's environmental policy.
The speakers emphasized the significance of the words of the Head of State:
“The Turkmen people have preserved nature with care and reverence since ancient times. The historical reforms carried out in our country to ensure people live in a clean environment create great opportunities to protect our beautiful nature, enrich its flora and fauna, and study it scientifically.”
The conference continued in the following thematic sections:
• “Environmental Policy — A Guarantee of Sustainable Development”
• “The Role of Environmental Approaches in Educating and Raising Youth”
• “Principles of Environmental Safety are a Key Requirement of the Time”
• “The Role of Natural and Exact Sciences in Turkmenistan’s Innovative Development”
It was noted that the education and science sectors play a vital role in ensuring ecological prosperity through training qualified specialists and conducting scientific research. In the university, particularly at the Faculty of Agroecology and the Department of Ecology, critical environmental issues are studied on a scientific basis, and students are trained in various relevant disciplines.
Special attention was paid to the issues of environmental protection, ensuring ecological safety, rational use of natural resources, and passing them on to future generations in a preserved and enriched state. These priorities are reflected in the following national strategies and programs:
• National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change,
• National Forest Program of Turkmenistan for 2021–2025,
• National Aral Program of Turkmenistan for 2021–2025.
Across the country, green zones, parks, and recreation areas are being established to support ecological stability. In the scientific works of the Hero-Arkadag, born from his deep wisdom and sharp intellect, special attention is given to protecting and wisely using natural resources. The multivolume scientific-encyclopedic book “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan” provides an in-depth description of the healing properties of the country’s flora.
The participants of the conference sincerely wished Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero-Serdar sound health, long life, and continuous success in their nationally and globally significant efforts.
